Its Summer Time.....

Hi Friends...Its time for our monthly Calendar Girls posting. This month I chose the the our challenge. June Challenge... For most of us, June is the month that starts summer...many events are happening...school ending, graduation, weddings, flowers blooming and family vacations. My challenge is...using SC 388 (found in the SC thread), with any color combination create a card that best suits your beginning to summer, or summer plans. It could be a trip you are planning, a flower that is blooming, a wedding you are attending, or a graduation gathering. Whatever it could be...have fun creating a card to go with it. Michelle (the "new" 2012 Miss June) So far our summer hasn't been going like we planned, not having a vehicle means we had to make some changes. We have been gardening more, and re-doing some of the flower beds. I'm not very good at gardening, but we (my youngest daughter and I) like to try.
I really wanted to use this particular stamp set, it was given to me by friend. I used SU! cardstock and ink, self adhesive pearls, ric rac, patterned paper from my scrap bin. My angles are a little different the sketch challenge. Thanks for visiting today!

Memorial Day...A Day to Remember

Its a Calendar Girl....May Challenge Here is the Challenge for the Month of May…………. Memorial Day--a day of honor, remembrance, family picnics, parades, flags placed at cemeteries, concerts and the unofficial start to summer! So the challenge this month for the Calendar Girls is to ink up a patriotic stamp, get out the red/white/blue paper and DSP to post a card that shouts respect to your country and those who have served in the past. I would also like you to note in your post on the 28th what is in your plans this year or what typically has been part of your celebration in the past years on Memorial Day. This year we have no plans, but in the past this weekend was usually spent at a family cabin. Growing up, I was in Girl Scouts, and would spent the mornings participating in the ceremonies at various cemeteries.
I chose a clean and simple layout, using a retired SU stamp, SU cardstock (real red and night of navy) ribbon, hand crocheted flower with button. Swirls embossing folder, and Cuttlebug.

Its a Barn Quilt!

I can not believe April is almost over! Our challenge this month was given to us by our dear friend Terri, and it was a quite the challenge. She gave us layout choices that resemble quilts...more specially Barn Quilts. April Challenge: What is a Barn Quilt? A barn quilt is an 8 foot by 8 foot replica of a quilt block made of plywood and hung on the side of old barns here in Wisconsin. There are hundreds throughout the state and I love seeing them up close and personal.
My card is a 6x6 square, I used pattern paper from My Minds Eye to create my quilt block. Thanks for stopping by, and have a Super Saturday!

Dueling Time....

Hi Friends....

Its time for our April duel....Terry was our hostess this month, and the kit she sent was fabulous! Our challenge was to make a card for the guy in our life. Masculine cards are something that I don't have alot of...so this was a great challenge.

Items in our kit....
Images: 'On the Fly' - SU!
Ribbon: Black grosgrain - Celebrate it (Michaels)
Metal Ring - rectangle - Paper Studio
Metal Dots - Colorbok (silver)

There was so much in the kit, that I used just part of it....

The guy in my life is my son....he is an amazing young man. He just recently completed his schooling, and has moved to Pennsylvania to start a new job. I miss him, but am so proud of him.

Thanks for stopping by today!

March Calendar Girls challenge

Hi Friends!

Our hostess this month is April, and her challenge was very creative and I loved it!

This is how she explained to us....

Our March Theme
And now the moment you have been waiting for.....

Drum roll, please.....

This month's challenge:
{In another thread, we were talking about what kind of challenges we like best and that is where I got this idea}
I want you to make a birthday card based on your date of birth.
I would love you to use two parts of your birthdate and use the corresponding color and sketch challenges available on the forums.
So, my birthday is 3-8-67.....either 3, 8, or 67 would be the
color challenge and either of the two remaining would be the sketch challenge.
My choices could be: 3/8, 3/67, 8/67; or the reverse of these combos for color/sketch or sketch/color.....

Clear as mud, right?? Use two parts of your birthdate and the corresponding challenge to make a birthday card!

April
"Our Miss March"

Using my birth date I choose color challenge 62, and sketch challenge 12. Since my month and date are the same, my combination was easy to choose.

Required colors were Bashful Blue, Chocolate chip, Close to cocoa.
I matched as best as possible, and added a some yellow.

Stickles in the center of the flower.

Thanks for visiting today!

Its Dueling Time!

Hi Friends!

Its our March duel! I was the hostess for the Dazzlers this month, and our topic/challenge was St. Patrick's Day. So I went totally green bonkers with the card kit that I sent out. The hard part was getting an image. I sent out a couple of links to free digital images that could have been used, or they were to use one they already had. In the kit I included three different patterned papers, a computer generated copy of an Irish Blessing, die cut shamrock, ribbon, cording, brads, and button candy dots. Another part of the challenge was to describe any traditions your family has to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

My card:

front

inside...with computer generated Irish Blessing

front...again.
Items used
Image: Free digital image from Elizabeth O. Dulemba.  http://www.dulemba.com/
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey, Origins, sugar pea
Ribbon: American Crafts
Embellishments: Button candy dots by Pebbles, copper brad by American Crafts, die cut shamrock.

When celebrating St. Patrick's Day, we usually will have some sort of food, usually potato soup, bread, and sometimes we will make shamrock cut outs for dessert.

February Duel

Happy Wednesday!

Today is our February Duel, and our lovely hostess is Deb. She sent a wonderful card kit, it was full of images, patterned paper, and embellishments. Our theme is "Let Me Call you Sweetheart!"

In the kit we had a choice of several images and sentiments. The one I chose is for a general Valentine's Day card. As you can tell, I kinda went overboard with the embellishments. The cording that was in the kit was to thick to thread thru the charm so I unraveled it, using only one strand.

My Valentine this year was my daughter. She and I cooked dinner, and had a relaxing evening.

Card details
image-Happy Heart Day, SU!
paper-Bazzil
pattern paper is by My Minds Eye
assorted embellishments, ribbon, cord (I unraveled it to make it smaller to fit the charm)
image colored with copics and colored pencils with gamsol.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have blessed day!

Calendar Girls January Challenge

Happy Sunday!

Our challenge this month which was given to use by our dear friend Jeanette. We were to pick a previous card...and use the image to create a whole new card.

Previous card and image.

New card and image.
I did color the image pretty similiar.

With the new card I colored the image, cut it out and secured it with popdots, making it into a baby card.

Thank you for stopping by.
