Snowflakes....My One Word Challenge!

Hello dear friends...its been a very long time.

This month our challenge was to make a card using theone word that was given to me by Carol,  a friend and  fellow Calendar Girl. Mine is Snowflakes.

My snowflakes were from a previous card kit that I had recieved, not sure if they are dies or punches...if you can help me out, I would love to know were these are from. I heat embossed the swirls using snowflake embossing powder, and sprayed the snowflakes with glimmer mist. It doesn't show up very well in the pictures. I got this great camera for Christmas and am still trying to figure it all out.

Here it is...hope you like it!

August Duel

Good Morning Friends.....

I cannot believe that summer is almost over! Fall is a great season, but I could do with a longer summer and shorter winter.

Our theme this month is 'It is Hot!~~~~~Lets Keep it Cool!

Paola is our hostess, and she sent an amazing card kit this month. There were so many goodies to chose from!

Our favorite summer past time is picnicing and going to the beach, when the kids were younger we were at the cabin at least 2 weekends out of a month.

Calendar Girls July Challenge

Good Morning Friends!

This month I challenged the Calendar Girls to make a card without using a stamped image. They could make it for any occasion, any season, any color....but just not use any stamping, except for the sentiment. I chose to make a card using 1sheet of patterened paper by 7 Gypsies, and ribbon.

The sheet of patterened paper is from 7 Gypsies...Lille Paper: Beautiful. I cut different pictures from the paper, mounted it on black cardstock (scrap stash), the card base is Natural (Archivers), and the ribbon is from SU!.

Thank you for stopping by today!

July Dueling Time....

Hello Friends, Welcome!

Our July hostess for our duel was Terry, and she sent us an awesome card kit! Thank you, Terry!

Our theme is 'Garden of Friendship', and our challenge is to give a story or memory of a good friend.

My circle of friends is pretty limited. One memory that I have is from high school, and I guess that has been on my mind due to our class reunion that is coming up. One friend that comes to mind is Judy, she was my BFF all through junior high and high school. We would do everything together, we even worked at the same cafe in our little town. I haven't seen her in years and hopefully this summer I will run into her. (My mom still lives in the town I grew up in.)

Now for my card:

The whole kit was so cute that I had a very hard time choosing what to use.

Sisterhood May card

Good Morning Friends!

Just wanted to share the card I made for the May Sisterhood card swap. Our hostess challenged us to make manly cards...which isn't as easy as it sounds. I like flowers, bling, pearls, and glitter...but this card has none of it. (I did use ribbon though)

Hope you like it!

Its a very clean and simple card, using neutral cardstock, and SU's Lovely as a Tree stamp set. The inside I left blank so it can be used for any occasion.

Have a great day!

We are shaping it up....cards that is!

Good Morning Friends!

We Calendar Girls were given another challenge this month....Barb our lovely hostess challanged us to shape up for the summer.

Here was our challenge....

The month of May can bring many things—Mother’s Day, Graduation, Prom, Memorial Day—all are wonderful events. However, May does bring one thing to mind—Skin. You know—like short sleeved tops, capris, shorts, flip flops/sandals, sundresses—all things that bring a frightful thought to our mind as our body is not in shape to show skin. So, let’s Shape Up. No—not running, biking, weights, but cards that have a different shape. So, your May card is to be a Shutter Card, Side Step Card, Gate Fold, Easel Card, Joy Fold, Criss Cross, etc. Any shape works—but to be true to the challenges we have had in the past—try a new shape that you have not used recently or really take a leap and try a design that you have never done before! The theme of the card can be for any event that happens before posting our next Challenge by the Charming Carol on June 28th—a birthday, wedding, shower, etc.

So, are you ready to take the challenge? Are you ready to Shape Up? Are you ready to show some skin--just kidding................

I hope you like this challenge and that you do trying a new shape in your card making or dust off a technique that you have not done in a long time. And, most of all--- Have Fun!!!

*********

I have never made a different shaped card that I cut and scored befored...so I made an Easel Card. (its one of the easy ones) My card is square, the next set I make will be the standard A2 sized.

Hope you like it:

Dueling Time....

Hi Friends...

Welcome to our May Duel...the theme this month is 'The Perfect Blend' and I recieved an awesome kit from my friend and fellow Dazzler... Deb. When thinking of the words perfect blend...what comes to mind...coffee.

We also had an item from Starbucks  in our kit, now when thinking of the coffee shop, we can't help but think of my friend and our leader Jeanette. She loves Starbucks. Jeanette has been an inspiration and encouragement to me since I first 'met' her. (We have never met in person, only online through a papercrafting site) She is a great listener, prayer warrior, and encourager.....and she has done these things and more for me. I hope to meet her in real life sometime soon. ♥

I hope you like my card. I chose to make a square card, and not color the image.

Forest Swap...using a recycled item.

Good Morning Friends!

Today's card is the one I submitted recently for a card swap that did with my friends at Splitcoaststampers, a online craft site. We needed to use something that was repurposed/recycled.

The image is from Deedee's, and the recycled item was the vinyl ribbon.

Have a great Saturday, and thank you for stopping by.

Calendar Girls April Challenge

Hi Friends!

This month our challenge was given to us by Terry....

Our April ChallengeHello everyone and welcome to the April Challenge!!

We have all heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers”…..I know we are all tired of winter and looking forward to Spring rains that bring out the Summer flowers!

My challenge to you is to show me your April showers!

I have 2 requirements for you:

1. Use an image with a duck, a puddle, an umbrella or anything resembling rain or water!
2. Use a fun technique on your card that is “water” related!

For my fun technique I used Crystal Effects to enhance the puddle, and Fun Flock on the cattails. Also on the inside of the card is a Prima flower.

Hope you like my card!

Calendar Girls March Challenge

Happy Monday!

Its time for our Calendar Girls Chanllenge! Our hostess April challenged us with three different elements this month...

1. To use an image..stamp or digital of something that we are looking forward to. Well I didn't quite do this, but you will soon see why.
2. We should use a technique/product that 'scares' us.
3. April also gave us a sketch to follow...which, with some abstract thinking..it could work.

I am so wanting winter to be gone, so I have been thinking flowers. I also wanted to try punch art, which I have never done before, hence my new and scarey technique. At work there is card class going on that teaches how to make this flower, so I thought I would try to make it. I altered it slightly, and added Glimmer Mist to the whole card which is also a new and scarey product.

Hope you like what I came up with:

Tools used: Marvey scalloped circle punch, paper crimper, quik stick.
Paper: Kraft card stock as base from Archivers, DP is My Minds Eye and Basic Grey
Embellishments: Toile, Pearl (self-adhesive), Glimmer Mist

March Duel....

Hi Friends!

This month our hostess was Jeanette, and our theme is 'Bring out the Kid in You. We needed to add to our card something that shows off our childhood or favorite things we did as a kid.  The card kit was awesome, it had something of everything, and I only used some of the embellishments that she sent.

Some of the things that I did with my childhood/teenage friend was bike ride, board games, and card games...especially Crazy Eights and Rummy.

This is what I came up with!

Cardstock: SU! Kraft
Designer Paper: DCWV The Guy Stack (blue paper), EK Success (Scrabble Paper)
Embellishments: Darice Rhinestones, Gartner Brides Table Confetti paper flowers, and Scrabble titles, and a playing card.

Calendar Girls February Challenge

Hi Friends....Today is the day for our February Challenge! Our hostess Kelly was very creative!

Here were our instructions:

Hear ye, hear ye! By royal proclamation …… I Welcome you all to Ms. February’s Ball!
Each of you beautiful belles – our lovely Calendar Girls - are cordially invited to the Calendar Girls Ball! It’s a month of love, admiration, and red hearts, my lovelies!
What will you wear to this ball? More like what will your CARD wear?! This month – fabulous Calendar Girls,- show us your STYLE! Your card should reflect a representation of what your dream dress would be and the moment each of you beauties walks into the ballroom, we’ll be dazzled by what you (your card!) has on!

1. Challenge 1 -- What’s your style?! will your card be sleek, sexy and black?
Will it be a pink and frilly with flowers? Lavendar and lace?
Will it have Bows? Buttons all down the back? {etc!} You may use any stamped image you like - it should not be a dress stamp, lol – your card should speak for itself with it’s colors and style! Make sure your card has the representation!

2. Challenge 2 -- Show us your true colors at this ball! Add your favorite color somewhere to your card, even if it’s the smallest of a brad or a little flower – it might not match your “dress personality” but that’s the whole challenge! In the words of Tim Gunn, “Make it work!”

3. Challenge 3 -- Shape up for this ball!! Well, this will be one of your EASIEST shape ups evah! Tee hee! on the same card, you must use a SHAPE somewhere on your card! Make your regular card but add a Big-shotted, Cuttlebugged, hand cut out shape to your card. (Ms Feb. will find samples and post to the thread!) Add your image to a nestie, to a hand cut heart, to a circular pattern – etc! Shape up, show your true color and your style!!

I really needed to think outside the box here...so this is what I came up with.

When putting this card together, I needed to look at the different elements of the challenge and systematically answer them...so I knew the card would be a black base, no frills, but simple, satiny and elegant. The patteren paper has a shiney finish to some of the filigree design to represent the satiny element.  Embellishments would be ribbon and pearls, with my favorite color being pinks and mauves. What stumped me was the image, so when looking through my digital collection,  I saw this one from Doodle Pantry and thought wouldn't be it cool if I could make this look like the Enchanted Rose from Beauty and the Beast...because after all we are going to a Ball. I colored two Rose images, cut one out and layered it using pop dots.

Cardstock: Black (Archivers), pink and mauve from scrap box
Image: Doodle Pantry digital
Patterned Paper: Imaginisce
Embellishments: Pearls by Recollections, Ribbon by American Crafts
Other: Colored Pencils, Gamsol, Jelly Roll Stardust pen. Top note die from SU!, corner rounder punch, pop dots.

What is a Calendar Girl?

What is a Calendar Girl? We are a group of 10 women, online friends, who have formed a blog group. We than picked a month to be a hostess, mine is July. I am so excited to a part of this talented group of women, and I apologize for posting so late.

Our hostess for January was Miss Jeanette, and these were her instructions:
1. Create a card that reflects our month of hostessing.
2. Use my favorite embellishment.
3. Use my newest papercrafting tool/tools, but it could not be purchased specifically for this challenge.

This is my creation.

My month is July, so I created a Patriot card. I chose a digital image from Deedee's Digital. My coloring was done with colored pencils and Gamsol. My favorite embellishment is ribbon, cording, or hemp and brads. On the card I used silver cording from SU. I did not use any brads on this card, because  I used the star gems. My newest tools are oval nestabilities which I used for the sentiment inside the card and a quik stix that I used to place the gems. They both are swiftly becoming my new favorites. I also heat embossed some stars down the left side of the card, and added some sparkle to the fireworks with my Stardust gel pen.

Cardstock: Neenah Solar White, SU Night of Navy, SU Real Red
Image: Deedees Digital printed from my HP inkjet printer
Embellishments: Silver cording SU, Zing Clear embossing powder, JellyRoll Startdust Glitter pen, Star crystals.

Dueling Time....

Hello Friends...Its the 15th of the month, which means its dueling time.

Our theme this month is Love....The card kit was sent to us by April, she included a huge assortment of images (Close to My Heart), papers (Colorbok from Target), ribbons and pearls (Both from Michaels).

My creation:

I did have a picture of the inside of the card to, but it was blurry and I couldn't get the other one to post. Computer challenged here. In the inside I used more of the designer paper and a heart punch. I than randomly placed them aroung the words 'I Love You'.

Thanks for visiting today.
